ALOR STAR: The good news for Kedah is that Senegalese striker Matar Diop is back after a short year-end vacation back home. The better news is that he has brought along compatriot Alioune Ali Talib, 29, who plays as a stopper.
Matar said Ali Talib, who plays for Customs FC in Dakar, had played for the Senegalese national team in 2000 and 2001. Kedah are on the look-out for a player to replace Ghanaian Emmanuel Kofi Ampiah who played as stopper for them last year. Kofi’s contract was not renewed.
Team manager Datuk Shukri Hashim said Ali Talib would join the Canaries in Singapore on Jan 20 when the team play in a quadrangular in Woodlands.
“If he proves his worth against the likes of Penang and Selangor during the quadrangular, we will engage him,” he said.
