SYDNEY: Former world number one Pat Rafter announced yesterday that he was officially retiring from professional tennis, saying he no longer felt the motivation needed to compete at the top.
Rafter, 30, a two-time US Open winner and twice runner-up at Wimbledon, made the announcement quietly in an open letter to the media – a characteristic move for the modest tennis man.
