Top seed Novak squeezes through in the wet

AUCKLAND: Tournament favourite Jiri Novak survived a scare against lowly ranked Robby Ginepri as two more seeds crashed out at a rain-soaked New Zealand Open here yesterday.

Novak recovered to beat American qualifier Ginepri 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 to earn a quarter-final meeting with Spain’s Felix Mantilla.
