SYDNEY: Thailand’s sporting hero Paradorn Srichaphan fought off the effects of jetlag to dish out a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 win over Australian Scott Draper in the opening round of the Sydney International here yesterday.
Seventh-seeded Paradorn, who only arrived late on Monday after opening the new season with victory in the Indian Open last weekend, thrilled the crowd with his all-court play to set up a second-round encounter with Max Mirnyi of Belarus.
