EL BORMA (Tunisia): Defending champion Hiroshi Masuoka of Japan took the lead from teammate Stephane Peterhansel in the Dakar Rally on Monday after the first real desert stage.
Masuoka, driving a Mitsubishi, won the 285km fifth special stage between Tozeur and El Borma with Frenchman Peterhansel, trying to win the event on four wheels after six motorcycle titles, two minutes and 20 seconds behind.
