BERLIN: Brazilian striker Ailton was voted the most valuable player in the first half of Germany’s season by a survey in Kicker magazine of 242 Bundesliga players.
The Werder Bremen striker, who had 13 goals in the first 17 games of the season, got 23% of the votes ahead of Bayern Munich’s Michael Ballack, who picked up 18% of the vote.
In third place was Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder Tomas Rosicky with 10% and TSV 1860 Munich striker Benjamin Lauth was fourth with 9% of the vote.
The survey published on Monday also found that Bayer Leverkusen trainer Klaus Toppmoeller was voted “biggest loser among the trainers” with 34% of the vote.
The poll also revealed that 41% of players believed referees in the Bundesliga got worse this season. – Reuters
