LANGKAWI: A new route has been proposed to make the Ironman Langkawi Malaysia Triathlon, which will be held on Feb 23, a more exciting event.
The championship’s technical committee chairman, Mohamad Che Nai said yesterday that the new route proposed for cycling and the run was to avoid traffic congestion, besides making the race more interesting.
He said that the proposals will be submitted to the championship’s main committee for approval.
Mohamad said that under their proposal, cycling would start at Dataran Lang, going into Jalan Persiaran Putra, the highway, Jalan Batu Asah, Jalan Bukit Malut, going toward Pantai Cenang, Padang Matsirat, Datai, Jalan Air Hangat, Galeria Perdana and ending in Kuah.
He added that the route was to enable participants to enjoy the beauty of the island. – Bernama
