PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian challenge in the British Junior Open in Sheffield ended on Sunday at the quarter-final stage.
The quarter-finals featured three Malaysian players – Ivan Yuen, Low Wee Wern and Nabilla Ariffin.
In the Under-13 category, 11-year-old Ivan was beaten 3-9, 2-9, 3-9 by Pakistan's Amir Khan while Wee Wern went down 6-9, 5-9, 5-9 to Egypt's Heba Alaa Anwar in the girl’s competition.
Nabilla lost in the girls' Under-15 quarter-finals 0-9, 1-9, 1-9 to England's Rachel Willmott.
Wong Kim Lee fail to make it through to the main draw of the boys' Under-19 tournament. The Sarawakian, currently studying at Wycliffe School in England, was beaten 7-9, 4-9, 9-5, 4-9 by Brazil's Eduardo Pereira.
