LIVERPOOL: Premier league high-flyers Everton have agreed loan deals with United States international striker Brian McBride and Egyptian defender Ibrahim Said, the club announced on their website on Thursday.
The signings are subject to the approval of work permits and, assuming there are no problems, both players should be available to make their debut in the league game at Tottenham Hotspur on Jan 12.
McBride, who scored twice and was generally impressive as he helped the US to the quarter-finals of the World Cup last year, has signed a three-month deal, allowing him to return to Columbus Crew before the Major League Soccer season begins in April.
It is a chance for the 30-year-old to renew his connection with Everton manager David Moyes, who had the forward on loan for nine games when he was in charge of English first division club Preston North End in 2001.
Said has also agreed personal terms and will arrive at the club later this week to sign until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old international spent two weeks training with Everton before the start of the season.
Everton, fifth in the Premier League, are suffering with injuries and both players have a good chance of featuring over the next few months. – Reuters
