KUALA LUMPUR: Singles chief coach Misbun Sidek will play a part in lifting the standard of the national women shuttlers.
Misbun said yesterday that he was determined to toughen up the women, who are now under the charge of Indonesian Fanny Kumala Mergawati.
“The women singles players are also under my jurisdiction. I will help Fanny to make them tougher and better players,” said Misbun.
“I plan to spar with them. If I am not available, some of the other singles coaches will help .
“The women will undergo a different programme from the men. But it does not mean that they will have it easy. The intensity of training will increase and they can expect tough sessions.”
The players still under Fanny’s charge following the retirement of Lee Yin Yin are Ng Mee Fen, Woon Sze Mei, Wong Miew Kheng, Wong Mew Choo, M. Sutheaswari, Au Jen Yee and twins K. Sugina and Sugita.
