Boro's Ehiogu suffers punctured lung

LONDON: Middlesbrough centre back Ugo Ehiogu faces several weeks on the sidelines after suffering broken ribs and a punctured lung in Wednesday’s Premier League game at Blackburn Rovers.

The England international collided with Blackburn’s American goalkeeper Brad Friedel in the seventh minute of the Ewood Park game, won 1-0 by Blackburn.

“Ugo has two broken ribs and a punctured lung,” Boro manager Steve McClaren told the club’s website.

“He will stay in a Blackburn hospital tonight and it’s too early to say for how long he will be out.” – Reuters
