SILVERSTONE, England (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton might not have won his home British Grand Prix on Sunday without the race being halted after he and Red Bull's Max Verstappen collided on the opening lap, according to Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin.
The seven-times world champion won his home race for the eighth time, slashing Verstappen's overall lead in the championship from 33 points to eight.
