PETALING JAYA: Teenage rider Hakim Danish will get the chance to spread his wings to Europe.
The 14-year-old has been given the nod to make his debut ride in the third round of the European Talent Cup (ETC) in Barcelona.
He will ride for Liqui Moly Intact SIC Racing Team alongside Sharul Ezwan as his teammate.
The young rider gave an outstanding performance in the first two rounds of the Asia Talent Cup (ATC) in Qatar where he secured three podiums from four races.
Following the success, Liqui Moly Intact SIC Racing Team have now extended the invitation and opportunity for Hakim to race in the ETC based on his exceptional performance.
To date, there are four Malaysian talents competing in the FIM CEV Repsol Championship.
They are Adam Norrodin in the Moto2 European Championship, Syarifuddin Azman in the Moto3 World Junior Championship with Sharul Ezwan and Hakim in the ETC.
Both Sharul Ezwan and Hakim are also competing in the ATC.
Sepang International Circuit chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif said they are delighted to give Hakim his big break.
“The hard work, determination and commitment shown by Hakim are quite remarkable.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Youth and Sports Ministry and Motorsports Association of Malaysia for their continuous support to our talent development programme, ” he said.
Hakim is looking forward to racing on European soil for the first time.

“I’m pretty sure I will gain valuable experience with this amazing opportunity, ” said Hakim.
SIC Racing Team manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin is grateful that Hakim was given the opportunity to participate in the ETC.
“I would like to thank IntactGP and SIC for making this happen. Danish is a talented rider. He secured three podiums in his first-year appearance in IATC. ETC is a good platform for him to gain some experience racing against the best European riders at the European circuits.
