PETALING JAYA: Fabio Quartararo will ride for the main Yamaha team this season but will hold dear to the memories of his first ever MotoGP win with Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) last year.
The Frenchman has made sure he will not forget the moment by tattooing an image of him celebrating his win at Jerez, Spain, last July on his arm.
“After nine hours, a special moment is inked, ” Quartararo posted on Twitter.
“I have dreamed of winning a MotoGP race since many years ago and on July 19,2020, we did it.
“The moment will remain in my mind for all of my life.”
The Spanish circuit certainly holds good memories for the 21-year-old.
He became the youngest ever pole sitter in the MotoGP (at 20 years 14 days) after topping qualifying in the 2019 round at Jerez.
He was again on pole at Jerez last year but this time went on to win the race, achieving what is also the first premier class win for the Malaysian-owned team.
Quartararo has moved to the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory team to ride alongside Maverick Vinales of Spain.
Replacing Quartararo in the Malaysian team is veteran Valentino Rossi, who forms an all-Italian line-up with Franco Morbidelli.
