PETALING JAYA: The start of the six-round 2021 season of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship will be pushed back to the second half of the calendar year. The organisers, who released the provisional calendar, took the cautious move to give plenty of buffer for any pandemic-related travel restrictions.
The Sepang International Circuit is slotted to host the first-two races with Round 1 from June 4-6 and followed by Round 2 from June 11-13.
The event will then head to the Zhuhai International Circuit in China for Round 3 from July 30-Aug 1 followed by the fourth leg at The Bend Motorsport Park in Australia from Sept 23-26.
Two more consecutive rounds at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand will wrap up the season with Round 5 scheduled from Nov 19-21 followed by the season finale from Nov 26-28.
“This has been a challenging year for all sporting events. As the promoters of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, we are grateful to all teams and our corporate partners for their understanding and continuous support.
“The calendar may still be subject to more changes but we are really looking forward to a great comeback in 2021, ” said Two Wheels Motor Racing director Ron Hogg.
