All revved up for the future

Staying focused: Sepang International Circuit chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif is looking forward to guiding the company through difficult times.

The Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing movement control order (MCO) to control it will inevitably result in loss of revenue for Sepang International Circuit (SIC). Chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif, who took over from Datuk Razlan Razali earlier this month, talks to StarSport’s LIM TEIK HUAT on his plans to overcome the setback and steer the home of Malaysian motorsports to greater heights.

Q: You are taking over at a difficult time with SIC losing income and the uncertainties as to whether things can return to normal after the MCO is lifted. Your thoughts?

A: It’s a difficult time for anyone taking over as chief executive officer of any company. As it stands, we are all at a crossroads. When I first found out there was a vacancy for the post, I didn’t think twice about taking it up. It is a huge honour but comes with a big responsibility. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to guiding the company through difficult times and will use all my energy to achieve this goal.
