Azlan makes a sweep in Buriram


PETALING JAYA: Malaysian rider Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (pic) proved to be the master of the Chang International Circuit in Buriram after completing a double in the ASB1000 category in the third leg of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).

The veteran rider was locked in a close tussle in Race 2 with Apiwat Wongthananon of Thailand and championship leader Broc Parkes of Australia until the final lap but he turned on the afterburners to win. Pole sitter Azlan, who was on third spot, overtook Apiwat of Yamaha Thailand Racing team and sped past Yamaha Racing Team Asean rider Parkes to clinch a sensational win clocking 20:59.735
