PETALING JAYA: Super GT may only make its return to the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) in 2020, but Malaysian fans can still feel the excitement "live" on TV.
GTA and Haro Sports & Entertainment Sdn Bhd announced on Friday (May 3) the new line-up of international "live" telecast partners for the Super GT 2019 season outside of Japan and Thailand.
Starting on Saturday (May 4), live races with English commentary will be available in Malaysia and Brunei, via Astro Supersport (CH810), Supersport HD (CH831) and Astro GO app for Astro subscribers.
Delayed telecast on free-to-air TV will be available to everyone with Bahasa Malaysia commentary via RTM HD Sports.
Haro Sports & Entertainment managing partner Fahrizal Hasan said they were pleased to be a key partner of GTA in promoting Super GT outside of Japan and Thailand.
"The new ‘live’ telecast partnerships will create exciting opportunities for sponsors and advertisers to engage with Super GT fans.
"More importantly, it has set the stage for the debut of the star-studded Super GT Festival in Malaysia in 2020,” said Fahrizal.
The SIC will be making its return to the Super GT calendar on July 17 and 18, 2020, after agreeing to host a night race.
The Super GT made its debut at SIC in 2000 with an exhibition race and it was organised 13 times until 2013.
Fahrizal said they have planned a carnival at the SIC for the first night race in the GT calendar.
"The race will coincide with Visit Malaysia Year 2020, and we want to make it a carnival for all on race day, we will have concerts with local and foreign artistes," he said.
"We will have roadshows in Johor Baru, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore starting next January to promote the race," Fahrizal added.
