PETALING JAYA: Muizz Musyaffa (pic) was the only local racer who managed to reach the podium in the Malaysian leg of the Formula 4 South East Asia (F4 SEA) Championship – fuelled by Petron at Sepang International Circuit recently.
Muizz dived down on the inside on the final lap to claim third spot in the second race of the weekend.
Thailand’s Kane Shepherd won Race 2 ahead of Frenchman Alessandro Ghiretti.
The 16-year-old Muizz is now ranked third in the overall championship standings with 189 points behind Shepherd, who amassed 228 points.
Ghiretti leads the standings on 250 points.
The Malaysian round saw newcomers Malthe Jakobsen of Denmark and Shihab Al Habsi of Afghanistan making it to the podium for the first time.
Jakobsen claimed his first podium spot after finishing third behind Shepherd in Race 1.
Ghiretti took victory in Race 1.
But the Danish boy was in his element in Race 3. He drove brilliantly to win the race held under rainy conditions.
Ghiretti settled for second place while Al Habsi claimed the final podium spot.
