Nabil achieves podium target in Holland

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Nabil Jeffri achieved his target of a podium finish at the Zandvoort F3 Masters after claiming third place in the 25-lap race in Zandvoort, Holland.

The Petronas-backed driver was third fastest in qualifying on Saturday.

In the race on Sunday, Nabil finished fourth but was promoted to third following Dutchman Jules Szymkowiak’s disqualification. Pole sitter Max Verstappen, the son of former Formula One driver Jos Verstappen, won the race ahead of Dutchman Steijn Schothorst.

Nabil was delighted to stand on the podium in his first race at the event.

“My target to be on podium materialised. Most of the winners of this event are now racing in Formula One like Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and Nico Hulkenberg. I worked really hard mentally and physically prior to this race. I also spent a few days on the simulator for this track at the factory to adapt to the circuit,” said Nabil.
