SCK Racing looking to match Maju record

PETALING JAYA: Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing look set to equal Yamaha Maju Motor’s Racing record of three CP130 team award titles ahead of the remaining rounds of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship at the Sepang Circuit next weekend and another unconfirmed venue in December.

The team is already in a good position to take this year’s award with riders Mohd Affendi Rosli and Norizman Ismail leading the team standings with 199 points (Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing 2) followed by Elly Idzlianizar Ilias and Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali in second overall with 191 points (Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing 1).

In third overall sits Faito Yamaha Motobert represented by Ahmad Fuad Baharudin and Ahmad Fazrul Sham with 146 points.

If they succeed, it will be SCK Racing’s third consecutive team award since 2011, matching the previous record set by Maju Motor Racing who won the title in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

“We definitely stand a chance to win the team awards again and match Maju’s record,” said team manager Soong Chee Kieong.

“Although competition remains stiff with rival teams quickly closing the gap, we are certain Affendi, Norizman, Fitri and Elly can contribute points as our bikes are among the most competitive on the grid,” he added.

When asked what makes the team so successful, SCK commented: “We never stop improving despite a proven track record. For us racing is about constantly improving ourselves and learning something new every day. Just because you are good today does not mean you will be good in the next race.

“Also, the riders and mechanics are very committed and focused. I am very proud of them, regardless of what the outcome may be at the end of the season.”
