PETALING JAYA: Akhimullah Anuar Esook was wondering three months ago if he would ever realise his dream of returning and having a long spell with the national senior team.

The striker had captained the Malaysian squad that finished runners-up at the Hockey5s World Cup in Oman and at only 24, he didn’t want to end his career in the shorter format.
