Tenaga Nasional defeats Terengganu in shoot-out to clinch Charity Shield

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional secured the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) Charity Shield after a 3-1 win in the shoot-out against a battling Terengganu at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Wednesday (Feb 7).

South Korea's penalty corner specialist Jang Jong-hyun gave Tenaga the edge by thundering in a powerful flick in the third minute.

National striker Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal made it 2-0 with a field goal in the 24th minute but Terengganu showed character by fighting back.

Terengganu skipper Fitri Saari scored in the 24th minute and converted a penalty stroke in the 49th minute to make it 2-2, dragging the match into a shoot-out.

A steadier Tenaga earned a 3-1 win in the shoot-out to win their first silverware of the season.

Despite losing, Terengganu will have the consolation of securing a point through the 2-2 draw, which will keep their league title hopes alive.
