T'ganu come from behind to down Tenaga 3-2, retain MHL title

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu defended their Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) title after coming from behind to beat Tenaga Nasional 3-2 at the Batu Buruk Stadium in Kuala Terengganu on Saturday (Mar 11).

South Korean Jang Jong-hyun was Terengganu’s hero as he scored twice to help his team retain their league title in the final match of the MHL season.

Jong-hyun scored through penalty corners in the 47th and 60th minutes after Tenaga had taken a 2-1 lead in the match.

Tenaga scored first through Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal in the 30th minute before Abudul Khaliq Hamirin equalised in the 35th minute.

Tenaga went ahead 2-1 when Aminuddin Zain converted a penalty corner but Jong-hyun’s goals confirmed victory for Terengganu.

It was Terengganu’s second title this season after lifting the Charity Shield beating Tenaga 4-3 last month.
