Terengganu trio get MHL clearance

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has given the green light for Terengganu’s Faizal Saari (pic), Khalid Hamrin and Shello Silverius to join their team for the upcoming Malaysia Hockey League (MHL).

Faizal and Shello said they received their letters yesterday after completing their mandatory Covid-19 quarantine on Thursday.

On Feb 23, the trio tested positive even though they did not exhibit any symptoms related to the virus.

For Faizal, he is glad that his days holed up in a room is over.

“When I got the all clear, I was elated. I’m now able to see my loved ones and return to training.

“I’ve lots of catching up to do compared to my teammates. But that’s OK as I can now play the game and get the chance to repay the faith and trust shown by the management.”

Shello, meanwhile, is itching to get back on the field.

“These past few days have been odd because I felt fine but was tested positive. But now with the clearance from the ministry, I cannot wait to get back into action.”

The Terengganu players including the trio will undergo another swab test on March 8 before entering the sports bubble on Marc h 10.

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) will house the players and officials at Bangsar’s Pullman Hotel during the duration of the tournament from March 11-April 3.

Terengganu are three-time league winners (2014,2015,2016) and were overall champions four times (2014,2015,2016,2017).
