PETALING JAYA: The much-awaited Malaysia Hockey League is off... for now.
MHC competitions committee chairman Datuk Seri Anil Jeet Singh announced in a press conference yesterday after consulting with all team managers.
The tournament was supposed to start tomorrow and end on Feb 20 while the women’s league was scheduled to kick off from Jan 20 until Feb 20.
“We now plan to hold the tournament either in July or August or on any suitable dates depending on the current situation, ” Anil said at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
The decision to call off the MHL was not surprising after the government re-enforced the movement control order.
Six states – Federal Territories (Labuan, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur), Penang, Selangor, Melaka, Johor and Sabah – are placed under the MCO from today until Jan 26.
