Megat gets 18-month ban

Remedial action: Megat Shahriman (third from right) can appeal within 14 days of receiving the letter to the MHC appeals committee.

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) have slapped Kuala Lumpur Hockey Association (KLHA) president Datuk Seri Megat D. Shahriman Zaharudin with an 18-month ban.

The suspension, which came into immediate effect, also bans Megat from all hockey-related activities.

The MHC executive board have unanimously agreed to uphold the findings of the MHC disciplinary committee yesterday.

The disciplinary committee found that the KLHA president has breached Clause 6 of the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) tournament code of conduct.

Megat, the team manager of Hockademy, was alleged to have made statements to the press and sponsors about the MHL prize money.

Megat can appeal within 14 days of receiving the letter to the MHC appeals committee.
