Arul said some players caught his eye during the Razak Cup. Former international Faizal had a great outing when he bagged 18 goals to help the east coast side finish second to Perak.
“A few of the new players, aged above 21, have never been with the national team but were impressive.
“I will name a big squad, a trial squad to see how they will fare when playing with the big names in the national team set-up,” he said yesterday.
Arul, who will be calling up the players for the next phase of training from Oct 5 to the end of the year, was just as effusive when talking about Faizal, 29.
“Faizal did well to score 18 goals in six games – that’s an average of three goals per game. He showed good action and attitude on and off the pitch,” Arul added.
In February, Faizal and his younger brother Fitri, as well as Sukri Mutalib and Joel van Huizen, were among those dropped by former Speedy Tigers head coach Roelant Oltmans. — Bernama
