Gymnasts Zhafirah, Cassidy win again as FT make clean sweep


New star: Federal Territories' rhythmic gymnast Nur Zhafirah Kurniawan win two golds in hoop and clubs in the apparatus finals competition at Malaysia Games (Sukma).

KUCHING: Nur Zhafirah Kurniawan and Cassidy Tan added four more golds to make it a clean sweep for Federal Territories in rhythmic gymnastics in the Malaysian Games (Sukma).

The 14-year-old Zhafirah was the best performer in the clubs and hoop events after scoring 27.200 and 26.550 respectively while Cassidy, 13 grabbed the golds in the ball (26.550) and ribbon (23.700) events at the Borneo Convention Center in Kuching on Monday (Aug 19).

Cassidy also finished with silver in the clubs after scoring 25.650.

A day earlier, the debutant Cassidy had edged Zhafirah to win the individual all-round title while both combined with Rhea Dhaliwall and Rhuzanne Sui to capture the team crown on Saturday.
