(Reuters) - Thailand's Denwit Boriboonsub and Phachara Khongwatmai share the lead with Australian Todd Sinnott at the Saudi Open, after they both carded a five-under 66 in the second round at the Riyadh Golf Club on Friday.
Sinnott carded 67, for the second consecutive round, and the leading trio go into the third round on eight-under overall, one shot ahead of Panuphol Pittayarat of Thailand, with Sweden's Bjorn Hellgren a further shot back.
Boriboonsub, 20, won the Aramco Invitational two weeks ago on the Asian Development Tour (ADT), followed by the Thailand Open last week, and now has a share of the lead in Saudi, after birdies on three of the final four holes.
His birdie on the 18th came after finding the green from the tee.
"I just tried to hit a bomb and it was down wind a little bit," Boriboonsub said.
"Today's round was very good golf. I was just being patient out there but was lucky there was no wind out there today."
Both Boriboonsub and Khongwatmai carded 68 in Thursday's first round, but the improved weather conditions helped in the second round.
"Yesterday I think it was harder because it was windy and many people struggled, but I still played under par and then today got better," Khongwatmai said.
Chapchai Nirat held a two-shot lead after the opening round, but carded a two-over 73 in the second round, and is now three shots off the leaders.
The Saudi Open, which has a $1 million prize fund, is the season-ending event on the Asian Tour.
