Tanah Merah Country Club has been chosen to host the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships – the the men’s Eisenhower Trophy and the women’s Espirito Santo Trophy.
The event which features the leading men and women’s amateurs from around the world will be guests of the Singapore Golf Association when the event is played on the Tampines course.
Singapore association president Tan Chong Huat said: “We are honoured to be selected to host the World Amateur Team Championships in 2025.
“We would like to thank the International Golf Federation (IGF) and all national federation members for giving us this opportunity to further our mission to promote the game of golf in Singapore and the entire region.
“This will be the first time Singapore will host this event and we look forward to welcoming top golfers and officials from around the world to our island.”
At the biennial meeting on the eve of the 2022 Eisenhower Trophy in Paris, the IGF also announced that the 2027 championships will be staged at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Morocco.
“The IGF was fortunate to have two outstanding members bid for the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships,” said the federation’s executive director Antony Scanlon.
“And at the biennial meeting it was decided that the Singapore Golf Association host for 2025 World Amateur Team Championships and the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation be the hosts in 2027.”
The men’s competition of the 2022 World Amateur Team Championship, the Eisenhower Trophy, hosted by the French Golf Federation, was won by Italy, comprising Pietro Bovari, Filippo Celli and Marco Florioli.
The women’s World Amateur Team Championship was won by Sweden, comprising Ingrid Lindblad, Louise Rydqvist and Meja Ortengren, as the Scandinavian nation claimed their third Espirito Santo Trophy in a tie-breaker over the United States.
