Bad streak: Shahriffuddin Ariffin had four dropped strokes in a three-hole stretch to finish second in the Laguna Phuket Cup.

PETALING JAYA: Shahriffuddin Ariffin’s dream of a second Asian Development Tour title was dashed after the 22-year-old Malaysian lost in a playoff at the US$75,000 (RM310,000) Laguna Phuket Cup.

Thailand’s Sarun Sirithon prevailed on the third extra hole with a birdie, having forced a playoff earlier with a superb closing effort of five-under 65 at Laguna Golf Phuket yesterday.
