FOLLOWING a charity initiative started in February, Transview Golf have raised more than RM24,000 for S. Murthy, one of their Team PG ambassadors and a veteran local Tour professional.
Murthy, who has been with Team PG since 2009, recently underwent brain surgery to remove a growth.
Explaining the charitable effort, Transview Golf business manager Kevin Yeap said the campaign was launched in view of Murthy’s plight and themed “Because We Care”.
“When we heard the news of his surgery and how sudden it was, we were overwhelmed and initiated the campaign to help.
“We are also glad to hear that the surgery was a success and that Murthy is now on the road to recovery.
“To do our part and assist our ambassador as best as possible, we ran the campaign at all our retail stores nationwide, ” said Yeap. “During this time a selected range of PG shirts was featured and a donation from each was contributed to the campaign.
“It was a heartening effort as we saw many of our regular customers not only purchase the PG shirts in bulk, but also donate cash anonymously to help out the charity drive, ” said Yeap.
“A total of RM24,060 was raised during the campaign and has since been handed over to Murthy to help with his recovery.”
Murthy said: “My wife and I are truly grateful for the thoughtfulness of Transview Golf for setting up this campaign.
“It’s been a tough year coping with my ailment, as well as this pandemic, but I’m trying my best to stay strong and keep up with all the treatment and physiotherapy.
“I also want to thank all of those who contributed towards this campaign and especially Transview Golf for all the years of support in my professional career, as well as during my hard times.
“I remember when my house burnt in 2017, they also played a part in the charity golf game that was organised for me. I’m fortunate to have such a retail giant take me in as part of their Team PG. Words can’t express my gratitude, ” he added.
