PETALING JAYA: A double bogey on the 16th hole cost Gavin Green a spot in the top 50 at the end of the third day of the US$8mil (RM32.58mil) World Tour Championship at the Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course in Dubai.

Gavin ended with a two-over 74 for a share of 54th with a 222 total in the European Tour’s season-ending event.

The 27-year-old Gavin made a good start with a two-under 70 on the first day but at the halfway stage, he picked up one double bogey and seven bogeys for a six-over 78.

Overnight leader Patrick Reed of the United States dropped into a share of the lead with English golfers Laurie Canter and Matthew Fitzpatrick after a disappointing one-under 71.

Reed, the 2018 US Masters winner, finished on 11-under for the tournament with 205 shots.

Canter made five birdies in a round of 68 while fellow Englishman Fitzpatrick fired a 69 on the back of four birdies to join Reed at the top.
