IN an effort to bolster the domestic golf tourism market that has been ravished by the Covid-19 pandemic, Tourism Selangor has launched their inaugural Selangor Golf Classic.
Confirmed for Sept 29 and 30, the 36-hole amateur tournament will be held at the Mines Resort & Golf Club in Seri Kembangan and Kota Permai Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam, respectively, and in conjunction with Liberty Golf Services.
The Selangor Classic has an entry fee of RM999 and the two rounds of golf are complemented with breakfast and lunch at both venues as well as a Srixon goodie bag, which includes a cart golf bag, polo shirt, cap and golf balls, among other items.
In addition to the gross contest, the tournament will use a modified System 36 Stableford scoring system to determine the winners of the A and B Medal categories.
The prizes and lucky draw giveaways are more than RM30,000.
Speaking at the launch of the tournament this week, Tourism Selangor general manager Azrul Shah Mohamad said they were “excited” to promote the staging of the Selangor Golf Classic.
“We are joining forces with industry players to enhance our golf tourism offerings with a variety of innovative approaches, including the organisation of the golf event, ” said Azrul.
“Tourism Selangor will intensify its efforts and initiatives in promoting Selangor as the leading hub of golf tourism in Malaysia, ” he added.
Eushen Ng of Liberty Golf Services said: “The golf fraternity can look forward to this two-day event with anticipation and we expect the courses to be in good condition.
