THE Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), the custodians of leading amateur tournaments and the representative body for 46 national golf associations in the region, are bolstering their profile. To this end, they have launched a revamped website and increased their social media presence.
Commenting on their new drive, APGC chairman Taimur Hassan Amin said, “After months of planning and co-ordination, the new APGC website has gone ‘live’.
“In this day and age, having a robust communications platform is absolutely crucial and that is what we are building. Being able to inform and engage with all of our member associations and federations via our communication channels is critical, especially during these times when travel is restricted and tournaments are being placed on hold.
“We’re excited at the prospects of capitalising on our new communications capabilities and spreading the news about the APGC’s activities in our region.”
As well as the website and Twitter presence, APGC are also rolling out a monthly e-newsletter that will be distributed to a subscriber list made up of key figures at the confederation’s member associations and federations, other global golfing bodies and golf media personalities.
“Our aim is to provide the most comprehensive resource for information – present and historical – about amateur golf throughout the Asia-Pacific region, ” said Amin.
Within the multi-media category, visitors are also be able to explore historic material, including photo galleries from past APGC events, as well as a variety of videos and podcasts.
“We are indebted to our partners and friends at the R&A (Royal & Ancient Golf Club) and the (US) Masters Tournament for allowing us to showcase some of their material on our website, ” said Amin.
He added that the website will also provide live scoring from their events that are set to return in 2021 and include the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific, Nomura Cup and Queen Sirikit Cup.
