TAYLORMADE’S new range of golf clubs hit the Malaysian market this weekend. Building on its history of metalwood innovation and advanced golf gear technologies, the all-new SIM family has been unveiled and showcased by drivers, fairways, hybrids and irons.

Driver

The driver line, which comprises the SIM, SIM Max and SIM Max D, features a raised crown and sole that reduces drag and improves airflow throughout the swing. While raising the crown and sole improves aerodynamics, it typically comes with a trade-off in the form of higher centre of gravity projection.

However, this is counteracted that with the inertia generator positioned low and back with a heavy steel weight at the rear of the club. This design element moves the centre of gravity low, optimising launch conditions and increasing the moment of inertia (MOI).

The “shape in motion” SIM driver comes with a suggested retail price of RM3,320 and the SIM Max and Max D RM3,050.

Fairway woods

The SIM and SIM Max fairway woods have been designed to improve turf interaction and playability from various lies. Indeed, the more rounded leading edge improves the club’s initial contact with the turf, while the V Steel sole further raises the heel and toe sections away from the ground and enhances versatility.

This design feature combines to significantly reduce the turf contact area in SIM and SIM Max fairway woods, thereby reducing ground friction which can influence both clubhead speed and ball speed.

The aesthetics of the SIM driver family are similarly employed in the fairway woods that are offered in 3/15-degrees and 5/19-degree lofts, along with a Mitsubishi Tensei Silver TM50 stock shaft.

The SIM fairway woods carries a suggested retail price of RM2,390 and the SIM Max RM1,850.

Rescue

This long-iron replacement is versatile and playable in all conditions. It also has V Steel technology and a clubhead engineered to deliver improved turf interaction with reduced friction.

The reshaped leading edge of this hybrid works in conjunction with V Steel to further improve playability and strike conditions. It also has a more rounded toe and adjusted the face angle to offer more confidence-inspiring shape at address.

The SIM Max rescue has a suggested retail price point of RM1,590 and offered in lofts of 3/19,4/22 and 5/25 degrees.

Irons

The new SIM Max and SIM Max OS irons feature TaylorMade’s revolutionary Speed Bridge technology and the all-new Echo Damping System – incorporated to deliver better distance, enhanced sound and a forged-like feel.

Introduced in the M5 and M6 irons, Speed Bridge technology again takes centre stage in 2020. TaylorMade has built upon this revolutionary technology to deliver a more refined performance with the SIM Max and SIM Max OS irons.

The Speed Bridge is a beam that spans across the cavity back of the iron, connecting the back bar to the top-line. With it there is increased rigidity in the top-line and upper perimeter of the face that delivers improved sound and feel, while working in conjunction with a flexible Thru-Slot Speed Pocket engineered for increased ball speed and distance.

The SIM Max and SIM Max OS irons are priced at RM5,300 steel and RM5,800 graphite (5-PW/SW) and come with KBS Max 85 steel shafts or Mitsubishi Tensei Blue TM60graphite shafts.
