THE annual Allianz Malaysia Golf Tournament, hosted at Palm Garden Golf Club in IOI Resort City, Putrajaya, proved a huge success yet again.

The tournament drew more than 50 players from the local media, alongside representatives of Allianz Malaysia’s senior management.

Participating in this year’s event were editors from Star Media Group and several other outlets, including Media Prima Berhad, Malay Mail, Utusan Malaysia, Kosmo, Sinar Harian, The Sun, The Edge, Sin Chew Daily, China Press, Malaysian Reserve, Bernama, Business Today, Astro Arena, ParGolf Magazine and BFM radio station.

“This is our seventh edition and it’s amazing to see how much the tournament has evolved, ” said Allianz chief executive officer Zakri Khir. “What started out as a friendly game has become quite competitive, which just goes to show that the field has come to play and is passionate about the sport.”

At the end of the round, Mohd Sharif Omar from Utusan emerged with the title. He finished with 38 Stableford points and won on countback from Aziz Hassan of New Straits Times. The winner took home a TaylorMade G-8 Series Grand caddie golf bag, while the runner-up collected a TaylorMade Spider Tour Red SL SS putter.

Redzal Ghazali from Sinar Harian had 37 points and was third, for which he was rewarded with a stand bag.
