HOKOTA (Japan): The Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) championship is only into its second edition but it has already stamped its mark as the most aspirational competition in the region.

Chief executive of The R&A Martin Slumbers is delighted with the way the championship is shaping up but says a judgement on how successful it will be should be based on the depth of its field five years from now.Reigning champion Atthaya Thitikul (pic) has played a big role in making the championship well known across the globe.
