Nail those hybrid shots

Hybrid set-up Many golfers set the ball too far forward, thinking they must sweep the ball like a fairway wood. That is wrong. With high-lofted hybrids (over 20 degrees), have the ball position central. But with 18 or 15-degree hybrids, move the ball further forward a touch (below the logo on your left breast) to compensate for the extra length of the shaft.

THE introduction of the hybrid has been a real boon for a lot of club golfers, if only because it is an easy club to hit, it flies higher and it lands softer than your long irons.

There can be lots of loft on them and with a low centre of gravity it gets the ball in the air more easily than a long iron – and it also looks less intimidating than a straight-faced iron at address.
