PETALING JAYA: It was a tale of two nines for Nicholas Fung as he opened the Volvo China Open campaign with a three-under 69 to sit five shots off leader Jin Daxing.

The bespectacled Sabahan made a roaring start at the Topwin Golf and Country Club in Beijing yesterday – making six birdies in the first eight holes with only a blemish on the 16th (he started from the 10th tee) to turn in 31.
