TAN Jo Vin won the first qualifying round of the Damai Laut Golf Series 2018 at Damai Laut Golf & Country Club in Lumut, Perak, against players from as far afield as Bentong, Pahang and Perlis.
He shot a 76 gross score and for his efforts, Tan was rewarded with a trophy, 50-inch Sharp television set and a 3-day/2-nights stay at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut.
The nett title went to 19-handicapper Mohd Fadzil Razali, who carded a 64 to win a trophy, 40-inch Sharp TV and a 3-day/2-nights stay at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut.
Fadzil played some of the best golf by any amateur in this country this year. He shot eight-under-par in relation to his handicap of 19, which equated to a gross score of just 83 on the par-72 Ronald Fream course.
The hole-in-one prize of a BMW 118i M Sport vehicle went unclaimed as no-one managed the perfect shot on the day.
Commenting on the course, the resort’s general manager Patrick Tee said: “Damai Laut Golf & Country Club recently hosted two international group of golfers, one being from Korea and the other from the China Hong Kong Senior PGA Tour.
“Both groups said they enjoyed the layout and stated their intentions to return again,” said Tee.
“Apart from the golf and resort facilities, our visitors were also treated to a tour of Manjung, some sea excursions and tried out the fresh seafood of Pantai Remis.
“This is what golfing at Damai Laut constitutes. It can be packaged as a tourism product and is also a great way of promoting the area as a golf tourism destination,” added Tee. The tournament’s parners included Sharp and CrestLink.
The second leg of the series is on May 13. To register call 05-685 9333, email firstname.lastname@example.org or log onto swissgarden.com/golfseries
