MANY amateurs mistakenly believe that to hit the ball straight, the club should move back in a straight line away from the ball in the backswing – and swing straight down the line through the ball.
Chris Ryan, a Warwickshire County coach in the West Midlands of England says because we stand inside the ball and bend over at address, the club must work on an arc around the body to find a neutral impact path. The club should work “inside” the ball-target line, back out to the ball and then inside again.
