MALAYSIAN stalwart Danny Chia tuned up for his season debut on the Japan Golf Tour with a timely victory at the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour’s Johor Closed Championship at Palm Resort Golf & Country Club in Senai, Johor.

Chia, who secured his playing rights on the Japan circuit after making the grade at Qualifying School, nailed down his first win of the season on the local Tour with a sudden-death playoff over Sharifuddin Ariffin that went to three holes. The top-two finished tied on 13-under- par 275 after the regulation.
