THE annual Volvo Golf Challenge was hosted for a 10th year at the Kota Permai Golf & Country Club in Kota Kemuning and saw 108 players, comprising customers and senior management from Volvo Trucks, Volvo Buses and Volvo Construction Equipment, battle it out for the honours.
Volvo Malaysia managing director Mats Nilsson said at the event: “The Volvo Challenge has been a central part of our culture and we are glad to continue this event year after year for our customers here.
“The success of this event and the continuous support that we have received from our customers and partners reaffirm our solid relationships with key stakeholders, as well as the reputation of this tournament.”
In the tournament itself, Charlie Lau from Freightmark Sdn Bhd, who was second in last year’s event, clearly gained more skills and luck since by emerging as the champion with 39 Stableford points.
His victory of clinching the title will have him fly him to Sweden to represent Malaysia at the Volvo World Challenge, where he will compete against winners from other countries and further display his talent.
For the win, he was also presented with a prized Bohemian Crystal trophy.
Coming in a close second was Lee Chee Hua from Megah Transport Sdn Bhd, who had a tally of 38 points. He won a TaylorMade BigRed Daytone putter and a Bohemian Crystal trophy.
Meanwhile, in third place was Jonathan Kok of Jasa Export Sdn Bhd. He finished with a score of 37 points and went home with a TaylorMade AG golf stand bag and Bohemian Crystal trophy.
