WOBURN, England (Reuters) - Luke Donald provided the perfect response to caddie John McLaren's decision to sack his golfer when the former world number one shot the joint second lowest round of the week at the British Masters on Saturday.

McLaren said this week that his six-year alliance with the 37-year-old Englishman had simply "run its course" but may live to regret his move after Donald's third-round 65 put him firmly in contention for the first prize of $755,000.
