Ben holds a 2-shot lead in wet Taiping golf tournament

PETALING JAYA: Ben Leong thrived under wet conditions at the Taiping Golf & Country Club to card a six-under 66 and seize the first-round lead in the inaugural Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Taiping Closed Championship.

The 29-year-old Sabahan, who finished joint second in the Swiss Garden Closed Championship in Lumut last week, reeled in four birdies – on the fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth holes – in the front nine before picking up two more shots on the 10th and 12th.
