KUALA LUMPUR: Thongchai Jaidee is certainly the man to watch when the 156 golfers tee off today in the US$3mil (RM10.9mil) Maybank Malaysian Open at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC).

At 45, the Thai hardly seems like a guy in the twilight of his career, especially after his great run last year. He picked up a victory, a joint runner-up and eight top 10 finishes en route to breaking into the world’s top 40 ranking for the first time.
