PETALING JAYA: Home is here for Japanese footballer Takumi Sasaki (pic).
The 28-year-old Sasaki sees a bright future with Negri Sembilan and is convinced to stay with the club for the next Super League season.
The midfielder admitted that the decision to continue for a third season with the Deer was not an easy one.
“Every player might choose to move to a bigger team, but in the end, my love for this team outweighed everything else,” said Sasaki.
“This club have huge potential. The management work hard every day for the club’s development. They are even building a new training centre.
“I believe Negri’s future is bright from here.”
After two seasons with Negri, Sasaki acknowledged that his style of play in the Super League has changed significantly since his time in Japan, helping him develop into a more mature and creative player.
“In my first season, I focused more on adapting my playing style to fit with my teammates, and in my second season, I was able to give everything I had.
“The ups and downs I have experienced have helped me become a more mature player, and I hope to show even better balance next season,” added Sasaki.
The Japanese player has scored six goals for Negri in the past two seasons, while providing 11 assists in 60 appearances.
Negri finished seventh in the league.
