PETALING JAYA: Relief, belief and renewed discipline summed up coach Yusri Che Lah’s mood after Immigration finally secured the victory they had been craving.
And their 2-0 win over Melaka on Dec 24 could prove pivotal as they brace for tonight’s Super League clash against Kuala Lumpur at the Cheras Football Stadium.
Yusri believes the much needed win could have an impact on the team’s morale.
“This was the win we were searching for,” said Yusri, who credited his players for maintaining discipline and trusting the tactical framework.
“Yes, weaknesses remain but results are the ultimate currency in football, especially for a squad navigating injuries, suspensions and pressure from the league standings.”
He also acknowledged the management’s continued faith in him, saying their backing has helped players understand and cope with the difficult situation surrounding the team.
While injuries continue to plague the squad, Yusri sees it as an opportunity for fringe players to step up.
With six to seven players already sidelined and centreback Vinicius Milani ruled out through suspension, competition for places is fierce.
“Those who are available must take their chances wisely,” warned Yusri.
Attention now turns to KL where Yusri’s youthful side face another stern test on the road.
Against the City Boys in Cheras, resilience, structure and discipline, the very traits that delivered their last win, will again be non-negotiable as Yusri looks to build momentum at a crucial stage of the season.
